Estate to Public Garden
Celebrate National Public Garden Day with Mt. Cuba’s Garden Advisor, Vic Piatt as he narrates the history of how the Copeland’s passion for place and plants inspired their home and gardens situated upon the rolling hills of the Delaware Piedmont. With the purpose of conservation and education, the Copelands would establish Mt. Cuba Center, that upon their passing would become a public garden dedicated to inspiring an appreciation for the beauty and value of our native flora and the habitats that sustain them. This program takes place in person at Mt. Cuba Center on Friday, May 10, 2024. About the Instructor: Vic Piatt is a 1992 graduate of Longwood Gardens’ Professional Horticulture Program and has been employed at Mt. Cuba Center since that time. He has held several positions from Grounds staff, Cut Flower gardener, Trial Garden Horticulturist, Rock and Scree Gardens Horticulturist, to Garden Manager. He presently holds the position of Senior Garden Advisor. He has a fondness for green flowering plants.
