Spend your Halloween weekend at this fun event for the whole family! The 8th Annual Heather L. Hurd Run & Kids Trick or Treat Walk will be held at the Susquehanna Center the Harford Community College campus. The event features exhibitors, interactive activities and a large children's area with bounce houses, face painting and costume characters. The race honors the memory of Heather L. Hurd, a history major at Harford Community College from 1999 to 2003, who was killed in 2008 by a distracted driver who was texting. Tragically, in 2014 3,179 people were killed and 431,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. It is our greatest hope that the Heather Hurd 5K Walk/Run will not only honor those lost on our highways, but also help reduce these needless fatalities by increasing public awareness. Proceeds from the event benefit the Harford Community College Remembrance Book Scholarship Fund.
