Songs of Our People, Songs of Our Neighbors

Join NMAJH virtually for the three-part "Songs of Our People, Songs of Our Neighbors" livestream series!

The June 24 livestream program will celebrate and explore the music of Deborah Sacks Mintz’s new album, The Narrow and The Expanse, (2020, Rising Song Records). Deborah Sacks Mintz will sit down virtually with NMAJH public program manager and musician, Dan Samuels, to talk about her upbringing, musical influences, favorite collaborators, and what drives her efforts to heal the world with music. We will premiere captivating, never-before-seen recordings of Deborah and other musicians created during the making of the album, and see if -just maybe - we can get Deborah to sing something for us live. The July 1 program will celebrate and explore the music of Rabbi Yosef Goldman’s new album, Open My Heart, (2019, Rising Song Records). Rabbi Goldman will sit down virtually with NMAJH public programs manager and musician, Dan Samuels, to talk about his upbringing, musical influences, favorite collaborators, and what drives his efforts to heal the world with music. The “Songs of Our People, Songs of Our Neighbors” livestream series explores music from varied Jewish traditions and diverse cultures, from the historic and traditional to the contemporary and reimagined. Through conversations, performances, videos, audio, and audience Q&A, this series will use music to better understand the complex, culturally diverse communities that make up the Jewish People, and our Nation.
