Come one, come all to enjoy BBQ, activities for children and teens, live bands, as well as craft and public service tables. The Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America and New Garden Township will host The Brandywine Backyard BBQ Festival, sanctioned and judged by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). This BBQ competition and fun family event will defray the cost of scouting for area youth through the Friends of Scouting Program. Specifically, this community fundraiser benefits scouts in the Kennett Consolidated, Unionville-Chadds Ford, Avon Grove, Octorara, Oxford and Cecil County School Districts helping them pay for uniforms, registration fees, camps, and leadership training.  It will also help improve local camps and create awareness of scouting’s benefits.  Bring your lawn chairs and listen to live music from two great bands: Old 442 and Younger Than Charlie. While KCBS judges will be sampling the competitors' chicken and ribs entries, you can purchase a variety of foods and drinks from 22 BBQ, Swamptown BBQ, Uncle John's BBQ, Natalie's Fine Foods, On the Roll, El Mercadito, Julian's Mac & Cheese, Rita's Water Ice, Baked of West Chester, Harvest Ridge Winery and Victory Brewing Company.
