The Heather L. Hurd 5K Spooktacular will be held at Harford Community College. The race honors the memory of Healther L. Hurd, a history major at Harford Community College from 1999 to 2003, who was killed in 2008 by a distracted driver who was texting. The tag line for this race is "Scaring Away Distracted Driving" Harford Fest, a daylong celebration of Harford CC 60th anniversary, will follow. An activities area for children will be avaliable and feature a Mickey Mouse and Halloween themed bounce houses, crafts, balloon art, face painting, a costume contest, and more. Children will also have the opportunity to meet costumed characters including Batman, Princesses, IronBirds' Ferrous, the Chik-fil-A Cow, and HCC Screech the Owl.
